Missions To Our Neighbors

Jesus made it clear “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).  This is a commandment for all Christians. It guides and includes what a church will do with the monetary gifts received and how the congregation shares their gifts and talents beyond their immediate church family.

Maplewood Presbyterian Church is committed to supporting our community of neighbors, near and far.  Our Missions Giving Programs provide financial donations from Maplewood and engagement from our congregation with local community, national and global charities, and non-profit organizations.

Some of the missions in our 2024 Missions Giving Program include:

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

Prepares for and quicky deploys resources, equipment and supplies across the United States and globally to help people and communities impacted by the natural and other disasters.   An ever-increasing need as nature changes and as world conflicts escalate.

Blackburn Center – Greensburg-based organization committed to providing a safe and stable environment for primarily women and children victims of abuse, and to working within the community to end all abuse and injustice regardless of its source.

Hempfield VFD – Volunteer Fire Department serving the local Maplewood community and many others in the area.

Medical Benevolence Foundation

Is a medical focused missionary organization managing and delivering medical/nursing care and education to local and global communities that lack basic health care.

Pine Springs Camp – PSC is the summer youth camp (and more) affiliated with our Redstone Presbytery.  Located in the beautiful Laurel mountains in Jennerstown, PA for 75 years with upgraded housing and facilities.  Each summer they welcome hundreds of first time and returning campers of all ages.    Their permanent staff, weekly visiting directors and program variety are rooted in faith and love.     The camp provides many opportunities for volunteering and financial support.

Wycliffe Bible Translators – Sharing the word of God with those who have no awareness of it is one of the most important things any Christian can do.   Wycliffe missionaries are working around the globe to bring God’s word to people in their own language.   There remain hundreds of places in the world needing this.
